Miniature Stepper Motors with Linear Actuation as Fine as 4 Microns per Half Step
Clearwater, Florida (February 2, 2005) - MicroMo Electronics, Inc. announces the addition of lead screw output shafts to complement its miniature two-phase stepper motors for precise linear actuation. The lead screw shafts are press fitted directly to the motor's rotor. This design eliminates the need for shaft couplers, saving both time and money.
MicroMo Electronics, Inc. offers miniature stepper motors with diameters of 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm, and 22 mm. Standard lead screws offered for combination with these motors include the low friction torque M 1.2 x 0.25 mm, the extra fine M2 x 0.2 mm, and the m3 x 0.5 mm. The lead screws are available in various lengths and come with self-lubricating nuts. The shaft tips are configured to accept a ball bearing for additional shaft support.
For a complete miniature drive system, the stepper with lead screw can be combined with a quadrature magnetic encoder with up to 2048 counts and a variety of gearboxes including zero backlash, exact ratio planetary, spur and hybrid.
Applications requiring precise positioning with repeatability are best suited for these drive systems. Typical applications include x-y tables, laboratory automation equipment, and photonics positioning.
Most versions are immediately available from stock with a 24-48 hour turnaround including complementary nuts and lead screw shaft tips with ball bearings.
